Now, much to my father’s dismay, I love pop and a lot of top 40 hits and Katy Perry is no exception. I loved her album, One of the Boys and her song “Fingerprints” is one of my favs. I chose it because I think it aptly describes Andy’s motivation. I feel like Andy is pushing himself so he can leave his fingerprints on the sim world, so he can have a legacy his kids can be proud of. It’s weird; I probably should have made him fortune because he’s turning out to quite materialistic, but then, aspirations aren’t everything.
And speaking of aspirations, a little spoiler info on how I play: the Specters won’t be fulfilling their lifetime wants before elderhood, if I can help it. I really hate having elders around, living forever, taking up space - wow, that’s sounds mean, doesn’t it? Don’t feel too bad for my sims, though; Andy’s already had a tank of elixir. He gets to stay young a bit longer cuz of his role in the story. Kaylynn, too. But he was going to live forever anyway; thanks to Free Time he’s about one bar away from maxing his lifetime aspiration meter thingy. But in general, after messing around in Pleasantview, I’ve noticed that sims that max their skills too early, like say in college, and complete their LTWs quickly get boring real fast. There’s nothing for them to do and it irks me. So that’s the real reason why I won’t be attempting any scholarships for the kids. Though, trust me, the kids earn enough skill points on their own – I may have to stop using smart milk or at least limit it or something…
But back to the main subject of this post: musical inspiration. A lot of the songs have inspired me, helped me think of different plot lines, and helped give personality and backstory to some of my characters. So I wanted to give credit and tell you a bit more about that. Andy, who is quickly becoming a favorite sim of mine, is a character that’s driven – a character torn between working to give his kids the best and spending every moment he has with the ones he loves. Hopefully “Fingerprints” helps some readers see that.
